Padel has soared in popularity in recent years
Donegal County Council has conditionally approved planning permission for a new padel facility outside Letterkenny.
Planning was given for the change of use of a warehouse unit in the townland of Dromore, to a padel court facility with associated ancillary services.
The sports facility comprises a floor area of 1,148sqm.
A previous application, which was granted by Donegal County Council in May 2025, will be altered due to this new application is successful. The previous application was for the erection of three separate warehouse units.

Planning approval was given for the application with 10 conditions, including a condition that the applicant, Myr Developments Ltd, contribute a payment of €10,848.60 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that this already provided, or is intended will be provided by the Authority.
Padel is a racket sport played in an enclosed court, with the same scoring system as tennis, but with different rules, strokes, and equipment. The sport originated in Mexico, but has long been popular in countries like Spain and Brazil.
