Donegal County Council grants planning permission for 16 Letterkenny homes

Donegal County Council has granted planning permission for the erection of 16 new houses with access to existing public services in Letterkenny.

The dwellings will be built in an existing residential estate in An Gleann Rua, Killylastin, in the north of Letterkenny. 

Proposals for the 0.4-hectare site include 10 two-bed properties and six three-bed properties.

Listed applicant, Property Hold Ltd, submitted a cover letter which said: “It is important that the design of the proposed project individual buildings, facilitates a good quality of life for residents and secures long-term sustainability of the overall development.

“The design of new residential developments should consider not just the immediate needs of the prospective occupants, but also their possible changing needs over the life of the building.

“The development attempts to manage the urban heat island through design, layout, orientation, materials and the incorporation of green infrastructure.”

Donegal County Council granted the application permission with 27 conditions, with the majority of reasons being to cater to orderly development and traffic safety.

A condition was put on the applicant to contribute a payment of €32,395.36 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefitting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided, or is intended will be provided by the Authority.

The developer is also conditioned to provide €80,000 via a cash deposit or a banking bond to provide adequate security to the Planning Authority for the provision and completion of all services required by the development, including roads, sewers, water supply, footpaths, public lighting, open spaces, and other services.
