Reoffending Crime Statistics were released by CSO
Statistics released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) reveal that Donegal has one of the lowest reoffending crime rates nationwide in 2024.
CSO data shows that 53% of crimes in Donegal were of a reoffending incident, with only Wicklow, Galway, Mayo, and Tipperary at 44% having a better rate of reoffending crimes.
The state average was at 61%, with Dublin Metropolitan Region North Central having the highest percentage of reoffending crimes, at 78%, followed by Dublin Metropolitan Region South Central

For the total amount of reoffending incidents occurring, Donegal had the seventh lowest amount with 2,159 incidents in 2024. Cork West had the fewest total of reoffending incidents in 2024, with 1,175, followed by Mayo, Sligo/Leitrim, Clare, Roscommon/Longford and Wicklow.
Similar to reoffending percentages, Dublin Metropolitan Region North Centra topped the list of most reoffending incidents, at 13,258, with 102,258 incidents taken into account throughout the whole state.
