SN Chnoc na Naomh in Derryconnor
A National School near Gortahork has been granted planning permission by Donegal County Council to construct a multi-purpose hall.
SN Chnoc na Naomh, in the townland of Derryconnor, was granted permission for the 292 square metre building, with a store, and all associated services.
School principal, Gráinne Ní Dhubhgáin, was the listed applicant for the permitted application, which the school said was “intended to function as a multipurpose hall to support a variety of school-related activities.
“These will include sports events, school masses, drama performances, and school meetings. The facility will be used exclusively for school purposes, with no activities unrelated to the school proposed.”

The school, which has 87 pupils and 12 members of staff, will also make future provisions for a designated area “planned and allocated to the rear of the main school grounds to accommodate mini-bus drop-off and pick-up if the need arises in the future.”
Donegal County Council granted permission for the proposals with four conditions, given for reasons including preserving the amenities of the area, preventing flooding, and for the interests of public health.
