Glenveagh National Park
Instagram analysis from an outdoors specialist company has found Donegal’s Glenveagh National Park to be the third most ‘Instagrammable’ national park in Ireland.
Glenveagh National Park, which lies in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains, was found by Trailblazers to have 16,300 Instagram tags, ahead of other Irish national parks such as the Wicklow Mountains, Burren, Wild Nephin, and Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara.
Only Killarney National Park, with a whopping 132,000 Instagram tags, and Connemara National Park, with 33,600 Instagram tags, were deemed more popular than Glenveagh National Park.
It was thought that Glenveagh’s castle and vast Donegal scenery lend themselves to striking wide-angle shots, which helps make the Donegal park popular on Instagram.

Trailblazers said that the “analysis used publicly visible Instagram hashtag counts for each national park’s official name, alongside follower numbers for official park accounts where available.
“National park land-area figures were taken from the official National Parks website. Marine parks were included for completeness but excluded from visitor-pressure comparisons due to the absence of defined access points or footfall data. Visitor pressure was assessed by comparing relative visitor demand with official national park land area.”
