Adult homelessness decreased in Donegal
The percentage of adults accessing emergency accommodation in Donegal has fallen by 28% from the end of 2024 to the end of 2025.
Figures details the sharp decrease of adult homelessness in Donegal, contrast to other figures detailing adult homelessness nationally, and in the northwest.
In the monthly homelessness report for December 2025, released in the latest publications by the Government, it was revealed that 43 adults in Donegal were accessing emergency accommodation during the week of December 22-28, 2025.
That figure was down from from the 60 adults in Donegal who were accessing emergency accommodation during the week of December 23-29, 2024.

Despite the 28% reduction of adult homelessness in Donegal, during the same timeframe, there was only a 1.3% reduction of adult homelessness in the northwest counties of Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo, due to the increase of figures in adult homelessness in Sligo.
Nationally, there was a 11.5% increase of adults accessing emergency accommodation, with 10,354 adults accessing emergency accommodation at the end of December 2024, compared to 11,546 adults accessing emergency accommodation at the end of December 2025.
