A Donegal marching band has announced it’ll participate in the prestigious St Patrick’s Day Parade in London for 2026.

Buíon Cheoil Sinsear Chloich Cheann Fhaola, from Cloughaneely will make the trip to England’s capital city, six years after their original planned trip to London was cancelled.

The band’s planned performance for St Patrick’s Day, follows a very successful year in which both the Senior and Junior bands won the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

Taking place on Sunday, March 15, the annual event has become a highlight on London’s social calendar, and attracts over 50,000 attendees.

An online statement read: “Buíon Cheoil Sinsear Chloich Cheann Fhaola is delighted to announce that the band will travel to London to take part in the St Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 15, proudly representing Cloughaneely and County Donegal.

“After the disappointment of the cancelled 2020 trip, this journey is especially meaningful. The band will travel with the Donegal Association London before returning home to take part in St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Falcarragh and Gortahork.

“Anyone who would like to travel with the band to London to celebrate St Patrick’s Day is very welcome and encouraged to contact a member of the band committee for further details.

“A huge thank you to the Donegal Association London and our local community for their continued support.”
