Flytipping blighting road between Ardaghey and Ardara

Councillor Michael Boyle criticised the fly-tipping issues that are occurring on the road from Ardaghey to Ardara.

In a recent fly-tipping search, Cllr Boyle told Donegal Live that volunteers had found 13 occurrences of fly-tipping along the road.

Following March’s meeting of the Donegal Municipal District, the Fine Gael councillor said: “This is an ongoing occurrence that is happening on the main Ardaghey to Ardara road. It has been taken up for years and here in last month’s meeting by Cllr Noel Jordan.

“The litter warden has come out there in recent days, and we have found a number of places where fly-tipping has gone on, and not just the one spot.

“It has been on the boundaries of the Donegal Municipal District and the Glenties Municipal District, and actually, myself and Cllr Anthony Molloy have gone together, and we found 13 different places along the road where there is fly-tipping going on.

“Now, one of the forestry owners has said that they are going to start their clean-up on March 25, but it is not an easy job.

“There are tonnes and tonnes of rubbish in this forestry, but the groups on the ground are going to start the clean-up. It is something that is going on, and I don’t know how we are going to get it stopped because it has been going on for years.”
