Warnings given of bogus callers in Donegal Town
Gardaí have issued a warning that reports have been received regarding bogus callers in Donegal Town.
It was said that bogus callers in Donegal Town were offering to clean gutters, and they were advertising a variety of other services such as tarmacking, landscaping and building work.
Bogus callers may also offer goods for sale, such as tools or generators.
Gardaí advice stated: “We advise people not to engage with such callers. They often target people who are vulnerable or who live alone.
“Don't open your door to anyone before you are confident that they are known to you or that they have a genuine reason to be there.

“Use a chain lock for added security.
“These callers can be intimidating and often refuse to take no for an answer.
“Contact Gardaí immediately should you encounter such a caller and try to give as much information as possible, description of person, registration number, direction of travel, etc.
“We ask you to always be vigilant when out and about and report suspicious people/vehicles to us immediately.
“Keep in mind that bogus callers could show up in any part of Donegal and in various types of vehicles.
“REMEMBER IF IN DOUBT KEEP THEM OUT!”
