The long wait for answers to Donegal County Councillor questions about the future of Glencolmcille Fire Station was criticised at April’s meeting of the Donegal Municipal District.

Unfortunately for Cllr Jimmy Brogan, who has spoken on the issue of Glencolmcille’s Fire Station on numerous occasions, Garry Martin, the Director Designate of the Municipal District of Donegal, was not available at the meeting for comment.

Cllr Brogan said: “I have asked several times about the Fire Station in Glencolmcille and have not received any answer.

“Whilst the work in Bundoran and Ballyshannon is good, we have seemed to have forgotten about Glencolmcille. It seems to have been left by the wayside.

“Around 15 years ago, there was a small bit of land by the station, which was agreed upon that the station would be. I would like an answer when Garry returns.”

Cllr Michael Boyle supported Cllr Brogan, stating: “All the fire officers are wondering what is going to happen to Glencolmcille Fire Station.

“I think we do need to push and secure the station for Glencolmcille. It is needed, and we need to push on.”
