The Donegal Designer Makers recently held their annual summer exhibition at their shop and gallery on Main St. Ardara.

Entitled, ‘An Eclectic Weave’ the exhibition celebrated the tradition of weaving associated with Donegal and was opened by Tristan Donaghy of studio Donegal who gave a wonderful insight to the history of weaving.

Curated by jewellery designer Hannah McGuinness, the show asked each maker to create unique contemporary work with a focus on pattern, colour and texture solely for the exhibition.

The DDM is a network of 25 studio based makers from all over Donegal creating unique contemporary craft in many disciplines. Chaired by Batik artist Fiona Higgins, the group operates a seasonal shop in Ardara.
