A crew training while volunteers work at completing the new facility at Glencoagh Lake
Inver Rowing Club, who are holding their Regatta this Sunday at 2pm, have created a new facility for local clubs to use free of charge.
The regatta, which was to have taken place at Inver Port on July 16 had to be cancelled due to choppy sea conditions. Fortunately, the club had a back up plan. For the last two months, club chairman Michael O'Boyle explained, volunteers have been working hard to prepare a course at Glencoagh Lake so the Regatta can go ahead this Sunday, and in years to come. "There are five lanes and we are going to leave the facility in place so that any of the other local clubs can use it, if they find themselves in the same position," he said.
Club veteran George Gallagher took this photo of a crew training and volunteers at work on Tuesday night.
The club thanks the landowners, businesses and volunteers who have made this new facility possible.
