The exciting new film, The Siege of Jadotville, which stars Jamie Dornan of Fifty Shades of Grey and The Fall, was written and produced by a Donegal man.

Screenwriter Kevin Brodbin, who hails from Laghey, wrote the script for the movie, ‘The Siege at Jadotville: The Irish Army’s Forgotten Battle‘.

John Travers of Ballyshannon was a former teacher of Kevin Brodbin's at the De La Salle College.

He recalls, "Even back when he was at school, Kevin was always determined that he was going to end up in Hollywood.

"He was from a well-known family, as his aunt was postmistress in Laghey and his father Barry worked for Irish Life.

"Kevin was also the lead singer in a young band called Blitzkrieg in Ballyshannon.

"His first big break was when he sold his script for The Glimmer Man to Warner Brothers.

“He's also written for the film version of The A-Team and the films Constantine and Mindhunters.

"Kevin comes back home to Donegal fairly often and he flew over to attend the Presidential Citation ceremony last Saturday."

Kevin is a son of the late Barry and Lelia Brodbin of Golard, Laghey: he’s the eldest of five.

Kevin, who was in Ireland in April, September and October hopes to return to Laghey, if not at Christmas, in the early new year.
