Protest against evictions at Letterkenny court

Demonstrators outside today's court in Letterkenny

Protesters have staged a demonstration outside Letterkenny courthouse this morning where 71 repossession cases have been listed for the monthly registrar's court.

Around a dozen protesters, who go by the name Anonymous, wore masks and held placards and banners.

Demonstrations outside the court have been a regular feature of the monthly sitting of the registrar’s court where hundreds of eviction cases have been listed this year.

A spokesman for the group said they are appealing for people who are facing proceedings for eviction from banks and financial institutions to come to the court to seek help and “not to put their head in the sand”.

He said assistance is available from groups such as Hub Ireland at the court.
