Up to twenty two new appartments are set to be built in Dungloe.
It is hoped to have the new units available for occupancy by the end of next year.
This follows a successional conclusion to negotiations between Donegal County Council and the two providers of social housing in the town.
The units are to be developed on the Cois Lócha, site on the Gweedore Road and the appartment clock at the Fairhill
“It is good news that the negotiations have reached a satisfactory conclusion, said local Sinn Fein Cllr. Marie Therese Gallagher.
“It is something we have been pursuing for the best part of the last ten years.
“We can now seek funding from the department of Housing, Planning and local Government. “
The units which are to be made up of one and two bed apartments are to be developed on communal areas on both sites.

These are were developed at the time the original units were being built and over to the HSE. But the HSE never used the facilities and they have layen idle for year.
The plan is to develop eight to ten single and double bed apartments on the Fairhill site and up to 12, again mainly, single and double bed apartments.
“Our biggest demand in Dungloe at the moment is for single and double room apartments.
“We are currently awaiting the approval of the Department”
