Burtonport Post Office
Donegal county councillor Micheal Cholm MacGiolla Easbuig says An post have confirmed to him that Burtonport Post Office will be closed by the end of the year.
Cllr MacGiolla Easbuig, in a brief statement, has called on the local community to put a plan of action into vogue to stop the closure: "It’s important that we the community organises against the closure of this vital service, not only at Burtonport and Bunbeg but right across our entire community."
He accused "some of our TDs" of "playing politics" with the closures: "While some of our TDs will play politics with these closures for their own self interest, I strongly believe that we the community are the only ones that will fight for no other reason but to keep services opened within your community."
He said that he and independent TD Thomas Pringle are organizing to challenge An Post on the closure of our Post Offices, but that it is vital "that everybody gets involved and organises against these closures".
