Noeleen Ní Cholla
Gaoth Dobhair singers, Noeleen Ní Cholla and Doimnic MacGiolla Bhríde are currently performing at the Hooley in Hudson.
Noeleen NíCholla was given the honours of singing the Irish National Anthem on the Tara Stage during the opening ceremonies and later she performed on the traditional stage. Noeleen is an award-winning sean-nós vocalist, fiddle player and dancer. Noeleen sings in both Irish, Scots Gaelic and in English.
An accomplished singer and musician, Doimnic won An Corn Uí Riada at Oireachtas na Gaeilge in 2010. Doimnic's mother, Nellie taught many young people in the area to enjoy and cherish the Irish tradition of singing. Doimnic has released a number of CDs over the years. He has also been instrumental in promoting Irish language literature and singing through the publication of many books.
Both are well known throughout the region and the country for their standard of both sean-nós and English singing.
Noeleen inherited her love for music from her family, the older generation around her, her teachers and sean-nós singers in the locality.
Noeleen has won many awards in Ireland and overseas for her singing. She also represented Ireland at the Festival Interceltique in Lorient in Brittany in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
