Dylan Browne McMonagle landed a stunning treble at Dundalk on Friday night to move ever closer to being crowned Irish champion jockey.

The Letterkenny man won three times on Joseph O’Brien mounts and is now eight wins, 90-82, ahead of Colin Keane.

Browne McMonagle was due to ride Queen Of Hawaii at Newmarket, but when the horse was pulled out he flew in for the all-weather card at Dundalk - where he nailed a 351/1 treble.

Browne McMonagle took over from Joey Sheridan aboard Jungle Ruler and Andab before replacing Wayne Hassett on Valorous Power.

On the 20/1 Jungle Ruler, Browne McMonagle won by a length-and-a-half from Aqua Bear (4/1).

Andab was the only winner of the three that was sent off as a favourite. The 11/10 shot was a comfortable winner of the seven furlong listed race.

The big treble was completed on 7/1 Valorous Power, winning by a head from Final Voyage.

He said: “I wasn’t expecting to be at Dundalk today, but when I got switched over I thought all three had great chances. Thankfully they all clicked. It’s been a good night at the office."
