Seven cows killed in collision

Seven calves have been killed in a collision with a van on the road between Bridgend and Burnfoot.

The accident occurred in the townland of Elaghbeg, Burnfoot, at around 11.15pm on Wednesday, June 4th.

It’s understood that the young cattle were on the road at the time of the collision. The driver of the van was uninjured in the incident. 

Gardai confirmed that enquiries are ongoing and there is no further information at this time.

The incident is the second fatality involving cattle in recent days, after ten cows were killed following a lightning strike in Butlersbridge in County Cavan on Friday evening.
