The Inishowen Credit Union says its recent Members’ Appreciation Day in Carndonagh was to “say thank you” to the community for its ongoing support.
The celebration was held at the Carndonagh ICU Branch on Friday, July 25, when hundreds of members dropped in to the charity event.
“We decided to hold a Members’ Appreciation Day in Carndonagh to say thank you for the amazing support the community has given us over the past 50 years – especially in the last two years since we went full-time,” explains Joanne McCormick, Inishowen Credit Union Business Development and Marketing Officer.
“We try to run one of these appreciation days in each of our branches at least once a year.”
The Carndonagh Credit Union celebration also raised much-needed funds for some important local causes, as Joanne further explains.
“As part of the day, staff chose a local organisation to support. We collected donations on the day, and the Credit Union also added a contribution.”
“This time, we picked the Restoration of the Day Care Service in Carndonagh. They've done brilliant work getting the service back up and running after it was closed during covid, and we felt they really deserved the support.”

Meanwhile, staff also picked five other local groups to receive donations: Gleneely Development Association; Hughie’s Corner; Malin Tidy Towns; Clonmany Tidy Towns; and Port to Port Parow event (all money raised goes to Friends of Inishowen Hospice).
The Inishowen Credit Union has approximately 26,000 members across the peninsula, providing key financial support and low-cost loans to individuals and businesses.
Its Carndonagh branch office, which covers members from Carn, Malin, Clonmany, Ballyliffin, Gleneely, Culdaff, and elsewhere, is now open five days a week, from Tuesday through Saturday.
