Planning sought for tourist shop on Inishowen Greenway

If granted permission, the facility will offer bike repairs, toilet facilities, and a rest area supplying Tea and Coffee.
Planning permission has been sought to build a tourist facility on the Muff to Quigley's Point Greenway.
Jackie Allen of Inishowen Bike Hire Limited is seeking to build a small tourist facility to cater for the visitors who will be using the recently opened greenway at Three Trees in Quigley’s Point.
If granted permission, the facility will offer bike repairs, toilet facilities, and a rest area supplying Tea and Coffee. The applicant is also seeking planning permission for connection to a proposed treatment plant, polishing filter, and all existing services.
An existing roadway and entrance accessing the greenway is already in place, and it was outlined in the application that the new tourist building will help to enhance the visitor experience for all the users of the greenway, which opened last year.
It is estimated that the facility will cater to approximately 100 visitors per week during the months of June, July, and August, with an average usage of 65 people per week during the months of April, May, September, and October. Leaving the remaining five months with an average of 20 visitors per week.
The Muff to Quigley's Point Greenway consists of 5km of Greenway infrastructure between Muff and the townland of Three Trees near Quigley's Point and connects to the 2.5km of Greenway already constructed in Muff as part of the North-West Greenway Network project. The project provides an onward connection to the centre of Derry City.
Any submissions on the development can be made until the 21st of August. A decision by the planning authority is expected by September 11th.
