Lough Swilly RNLI was called to assist three paddleboarders last night, who were thankfully found safe.
A member of the public called Malin Head Coast Guard at 9:48pm, who then alerted the Lough Swilly team.
The paddleboarders were in the water near Lisfannon Beach, near Fahan and when the RNLI arrived they had made it safely to shore.
“The In-Shore Lifeboat was quickly launched at Ned’s Point,” shared Lough Swilly RNLI. “The crew arrived on scene to discover that all three paddleboarders had made it to shore and were in good spirits so they returned to Ned’s Point to refuel and make ready for service.
“We would like to thank the member of the public for contacting the Coast Guard. We would rather respond to a call like this and find everything is ok rather than risk a situation escalating into something more serious.

“Remember: If you're in difficulty on or near the water - or if you see someone in trouble - dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
