Buncrana’s Children’s Charity (BCC) has published figures this week showing that so far this year, the initiative has helped 26 children and their families.

Thanks to the outstanding generosity of the Inishowen community, it has provided over €7,640 in direct support since January.

The committee states that none of the assistance they provide would have been possible without the continued support of local people, businesses, and councillors, who have donated their time, money, and resources to ensure that children in need receive care.

Vice Chairperson Caitlin Crossan said, every success Buncrana’s Children’s Charity has had this year belongs to the people of Inishowen.

“Supporting 26 children already is only possible because of the amazing kindness we receive from our community. This generosity shows how much people here care for one another, and we are so proud to be part of that.”

Secretary of BCC, Majella McLaughlin, added: “Every euro, every bag of clothes donated to the shop, every bit of fundraising — it all adds up and makes a real difference to local families. We rely solely on the people around us, and once again, the Inishowen community has shown just how strong and caring it is.”

PRO Amanda Nelson highlighted the importance of this support for the charity’s future.

“It is truly inspiring to see how our community continues to stand behind us,” she stressed.

“The generosity of local people doesn’t just provide financial help — it gives families hope and reminds them they are not alone. With the support of our community, we can keep building BCC and reach even more families across Inishowen.”

BCC continues to operate through donations, fundraising events, and the work of its charity shop, all of which are made possible by the ongoing commitment of local people.

The committee concluded its remarks by thanking the public once again for all its support: “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who supports us. Together, we are changing lives across Inishowen — and with your continued kindness, we’ll keep raising that number higher.”
