Mura MacLochlainn has been thanked for his ‘tremendous service’ to his community
Tributes have been paid on the retirement of the manager of Muff Community Development, Mura MacLochlainn.
Mr MacLochlainn, who has been the manager at the organisation for almost 25 years, retired this week.
In a tribute, Muff Community Development described him as an “incredible manager” who “has been the very heart of Muff Community Development”.
“It's almost impossible to list the ways he has shaped our village—from pivotal projects like the Community Park to the small but essential details of local signage, his vision is everywhere you look.

“Mura was more than a manager; he was the ultimate community man who truly led by example. His countless hours of volunteering—for the Development, the annual festival, and every event in between—went far beyond his role. “Whether he was leading a Tidy Towns clean-up, ensuring the hall was ready for a group, or just lending a hand wherever it was needed, Mura gave freely of his time and energy.
“We wish him the absolute best for his next chapter. May he finally get to relax and dive into the thousands of books he's accumulated! We know his dedication to the village won't stop, but he has certainly earned this break.
“Thank you, Mura, for your service, your leadership, and your passion.
Among those who posted tributes to him was Donegal TD Pádraig Mac Lochlainn who said: “Thank you Mura for your tremendous service to your community over the years.”
