Delighted mum scoops dream holiday to Boston in Moville Celtic New Year’s draw

Catherine McLaughlin has won a holiday-for-two to Boston, plus $1,000 spending money.

A lucky Moville woman has scooped a holiday of a lifetime to Boston in a New Year’s Day draw.

Catherine McLaughlin was the first name out of the drum in the grand Moville Celtic fundraising draw, winning a dream trip to the United States.

The prize comprises flights and four nights' accommodation for two people in the Massachusetts capital, as well as $1,000 spending money.

The winning ticket was drawn at the Corner Bar on New Year’s Night by Moville native and Boston pub owner Oran McGonagle, who has kindly sponsored the jackpot prize.

Mum Catherine, whose son Cahir plays for the Moville Celtic U-12s team, is absolutely thrilled with her jackpot win.

Breedge Grant won the runners-up prize of €1,000, while Denise McCarron secured €500 in third place.

The fourth prize winner was Matthew McLaughlin, who wins a one-night stay at Moville Luxury Log Cabin, sponsored by Roma and Eamonn Reddin.

Meanwhile, the club has praised all the winners and thanked everyone who helped make its fundraising draw such a success.

A huge congratulations to all our prize winners and a massive thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, sold a ticket, shared a post, or supported us in any way along the journey,” a spokesperson said.

“Your support helps drive real progress for Moville Celtic and our future facilities, and we couldn’t do it without this incredible community and our amazing volunteers tirelessly working behind the scenes.”

“Here’s to 2026, continued development, and many more great nights together.”
