There'll be practical advice at Greencastle Community Centre, as well as hands-on workshops at Carnagarve Forest.
With the start of spring not far away, nature lovers from across Inishowen and beyond are invited to a gathering in Moville and Greencastle to help learn more about the increasing threat of invasive plants.
The ‘Learn and Do’ event will grapple with the problematic salmonberry bramble, an alien invasive plant that is stealthily moving through our forests and hedgerows.
The workshop will run at Greencastle Community Centre on Saturday, January 31, from 11am until 4pm, beginning with some insight from KPM soils and other experts as to how we can help restore forest balance.
Following a light lunch, participants will carpool to the nearby Carnagarve Forest in Moville, where there’ll be a choice of three hands-on workshops.
As the day moves towards sunset, folk are welcome to wander the forest paths or linger in the clearings, with tales, songs and the odd roasted chestnut.
On the issue of salmonberry, is it now a case of having to learn to ‘live with the enemy’? This and any other questions will be addressed by the panel of experts on the day.
