Teen rearrested after brazen escape from Garda Van
A male teenager was rearrested by Gardaí in Buncrana in the early hours of Sunday morning after briefly escaping from a Garda van while under arrest.
Gardaí were responding to a public order incident at the Market Square on Main Street, Buncrana, in the early hours of Sunday morning, January 25th.
The teenager was arrested under the Public Order Act and placed in a Garda vehicle to be transported to Buncrana Garda Station.
While the van was parked at the Market Square, the detained male managed to exit the rear of the vehicle. Video footage of the incident, which has since circulated widely on social media, shows two young men in their late teens opening the rear doors of the Garda van before fleeing the scene towards Upper Main Street.
The arrested male is then seen leaving the vehicle and walking after the two youths. Seconds later, two members of An Garda Síochána are captured in the footage giving chase on foot.

The teenager was quickly apprehended by Gardaí following a short pursuit and brought to Buncrana Garda Station.
