Exploring the impact of artificial intelligence and technology on our environment

The free-of-charge event will take place in Moville on February 12, with all welcome.

A community conversation on the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on our environment will take place in Moville later this month.

‘Conversations towards Action: Technology, Responsibility & Legacy’ will take place in St Eugene’s Hall, Moville, on Thursday, February 12, from 7pm to 9pm.

The evening – Hosted by ChangeMakers Donegal – will explore how our rapidly changing digital world shapes people, planet, and the legacy we will leave to future generations.

The event will also feature a reading by author Gerry McGovern from his new book, ‘99th Day: A Warning About Technology’, followed by a panel conversation inviting practical local action.

McGovern, a long-standing commentator on the digital landscape, has consistently called for a reduction in digital waste and building awareness of technology’s wider environmental footprint.

Myra McAuliffe, Project Coordinator with Changemakers, said they are delighted to welcome him to Inishowen this February.

“Gerry McGovern’s latest book has been described as essential reading for anyone who cares about our planet,” says Myra.

“Many people are concerned about the dominance of technology in our lives and may not fully understand the impact of technology on our environment.”

“This community conversation aims to address those concerns and shed light on the issue. Our goal is for the audience to leave feeling informed and inspired to take action in their own local areas,” added Myra.

Liam Burns, of Carnagarve Forest, and Olitha Mpofu, originally from Zimbabwe, now living in Donegal, will share their perspectives on the positive changes happening in our community.
