A talented Inishowen student has received national commendation for his stunning artwork at the 2025 Credit Union Art Competition.

Rian Doherty, from Scoil Mhuire in Buncrana, scooped a national runner-up honour for his superb original sketch at the awards ceremony in Dublin recently.

The teenager initially won the 14-17 category at the Inishowen stage of the competition, before also winning the next stage, at Chapter Level, to qualify for the national finals.

Rian then won the overall runners-up prize in his category, marking an amazing achievement, particularly given that the contest received more than 25,000 entries from young artists across Ireland.

He was invited to a presentation on Sunday, January 25, at Croke Park, where he proudly represented Inishowen Credit Union.

“Inishowen Credit Union is delighted that he could represent us at the national prizegiving ceremony. We’d also like to extend a special thank you to all our entrants this year for their creativity and effort,” they added.
