Customers in the affected areas are also being urged to report any visible leaks to Uisce Éireann.
Night-time water restrictions have been introduced in parts of Buncrana as Uisce Éireann crews continue to search for a significant leak affecting local supply.
Teams have been working to find the location of the leak in the Keelogs and Druminor areas, where the loss of water is putting pressure on normal daytime supply for homes and businesses.
To allow the local reservoir to recover, water restrictions will be in place from 11pm tonight until 7am tomorrow morning. Uisce Éireann said the measure is necessary to ensure customers have water during the day while efforts continue to locate and repair the leak.
The utility said crews are actively working on the ground to find the source of the problem and carry out repairs as quickly as possible once it is identified.
Uisce Éireann’s Damien O’Sullivan said customers are being asked to conserve water while the issue is being addressed.
He said small changes in daily water use could help protect daytime supply, including taking shorter showers, using a basin when washing dishes and fixing leaking taps.
Customers in the affected areas are also being urged to report any visible leaks to Uisce Éireann.
The company said it will continue to provide updates as work progresses, with information available through its customer care helpline and online channels.
