Moments of stillness are important, whether through meditation or spending time in nature - or both.
In the ebb and flow of everyday life, sometimes it’s the subtle practices that help us feel most balanced.
One beautiful way to support our overall wellbeing is to focus on our chakras – seven energy centres that run from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
Each chakra has its own unique qualities, and by nurturing each one, we can cultivate a sense of harmony and vitality.
The Root Chakra (Muladhara)
Located at the base of the spine, the root chakra is all about stability and grounding. To support this chakra, focus on practices that help you feel secure and connected to the earth. A warm foot soak with soothing herbs like lavender or a grounding meditation can help you feel more rooted and stable.
The Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)
Just below the navel, the sacral chakra is the centre of creativity and emotional flow. Nurture it with activities that spark your creativity, whether it’s painting, dancing, or simply enjoying a favourite hobby. Incorporating a little ginger or warming spices into your meals can also add a comforting boost to this creative centre.
The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)
Located around the stomach area, the solar plexus chakra is the seat of personal power and confidence. Support this chakra by doing things that build your sense of self-esteem, maybe it’s setting small goals or practising positive affirmations. A bit of citrus, like lemon in your water, can give a bright, uplifting boost to your day.
The Heart Chakra (Anahata)
At the centre of the chest, the heart chakra is all about love and compassion. Nurture it with practices that open your heart – like spending time with loved ones, practising gratitude, or even a gentle yoga pose. Foods like leafy greens or herbal teas can also be soothing for the heart chakra.
The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)
Located at the throat, this chakra is the centre of communication and self-expression. Support it by speaking your truth, whether through journaling, singing, or having honest conversations. Soothing teas like chamomile or peppermint can help keep this chakra in balance.
The Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
Situated between the eyebrows, the third eye chakra is the centre of intuition and insight. Nurture it with practices that encourage inner reflection, like meditation, mindfulness, or simply taking a few quiet moments to listen to your inner voice. Foods like blueberries or dark chocolate can be a lovely treat for this intuitive centre.

The Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
At the very top of the head, the crown chakra is associated with spiritual connection and higher consciousness. Support it with moments of stillness, whether through meditation, spending time in nature, or simply finding quiet moments of gratitude. Light, nourishing foods or herbal teas can help you feel more in tune with this chakra.
By gently supporting each chakra, we create a sense of harmony and wellbeing that flows through our entire being. These simple practices can be a beautiful way to nurture yourself from head to toe.
