The fundraiser was launched at a special school assembly with the help of Donegal GAA footballer Conor O'Donnell
The parents association of Scoil Eoghain in Moville has officially launched a campaign to develop a new multi-sport artificial turf pitch for the school.
The Buy-A-Square fundraiser was launched at a special school assembly on Friday, February 27 with the help of Donegal GAA footballer Conor O'Donnell, who spoke to pupils about the important role sport played in his life while growing up.
Addressing the students, Conor said that a multi-sport pitch would be “a fantastic facility to have at the school” and encouraged everyone to get involved in supporting the project.
He took part in a lively question-and-answer session with the children before becoming the very first person to sign the fundraising board.

School principal Liam McDermott thanked Conor for attending and supporting the initiative. He said the proposed astro pitch would be “a great asset to the school,” providing pupils with a safe, all-weather space for sport and physical activity throughout the year.
The Buy-A-Square fundraiser invites members of the school and wider community to purchase a square for €25, with all proceeds going directly towards the development of the new multi-sport astro pitch.
The project aims to create a high-quality sports space that will benefit current and future generations of pupils.
The parents association expressed gratitude to everyone who has already supported the initiative and encouraged the wider community to get involved.
Squares can be purchased from the Parents Association, the school office, local businesses or online.
Everyone that donates will have their name placed on the fundraiser board and will be entered into an appreciation draw for a chance to win €1,000.
