Cockhill Community Pre-School seeks to stay open longer
An application has been lodged with Donegal County Council to extend the opening hours of an essential classroom facility at Cockhill Community Pre-School.
The application by the applicant Rosie Hegarty relates to the amendment of one of the eight conditions attached to the planning permission granted last month to retain the existing classroom portacabin.
The portacabin provides additional classroom space at the long-established community pre-school. However, as part of the previous application, one condition restricted the operating hours of the portacabin classroom to 9.30am to 12.30pm, Monday to Friday, with no activity permitted outside those hours, or on Sundays and public holidays.
The new application seeks to extend those hours to 9am until 2pm, providing a longer operating window for the service.
The community-based pre-school celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, marking two decades at the heart of local life in Cockhill. Generations of children have passed through its doors, and the extra classroom has played a key role in accommodating young learners.
