Dawn Chorus event to take place in Buncrana
Early birds and nature enthusiasts are being invited to experience the beauty of birdsong at a special “Dawn Chorus” event taking place in Swan Park, Buncrana, on Saturday, 9th May at 5am.
Organised in collaboration with Wild Inishowen, the event promises a peaceful early-morning walk guided by expert birder Martin Maloney. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to and learn how to identify a variety of native birds as they greet the rising sun with their distinctive calls.
The dawn chorus is a natural phenomenon where birds sing in a loud, harmonious burst just before sunrise, particularly in spring. The early hour offers a unique chance to experience the park at its quietest and most atmospheric, before the hustle and bustle of the day begins.
Attendees are asked to meet on Castle Bridge at the entrance to Swan Park. The event is open to everyone, from seasoned birdwatchers to complete beginners, and aims to encourage appreciation of local wildlife and natural habitats.
