Buncrana’s free talk will help you sniff out allergy relief!

Inishowen Medical is holding a free public talk on hay fever.

As spring blooms across Buncrana and the surrounding Inishowen peninsula, many locals are bracing for the all-too-familiar arrival of sneezing, itchy eyes, and runny noses. To help the community better understand and manage seasonal allergies, Inishowen Medical is hosting a free public talk focused on hay fever.

The event, titled “Spring Sneezing Season! Hay-fever Advice and Management”, will be led by respected  Inishowen Medical GP, Dr. Paul Van Dessel. It will take place at The Exchange in Buncrana on Wednesday, April 15th at 7pm.

Organisers say the talk is open to everyone in the community and aims to provide practical, easy-to-follow advice for those who struggle with seasonal allergies. Attendees can expect guidance on identifying triggers, understanding symptoms, and exploring effective treatment options such as over-the-counter remedies and lifestyle adjustments.

The free event also seeks to clear up common misconceptions about hay fever. As one lighthearted image promoting the talk suggests, “I’m not sick, my nose thinks nature is trying to poison me,” many sufferers often feel misunderstood during peak pollen season.

With spring bringing longer days and brighter weather, it also ushers in higher pollen counts, making events like this especially timely. Inishowen Medical hopes the session will empower residents to enjoy the season with fewer symptoms and better overall well-being.

No booking is required, and all are welcome to attend.
