Carndonagh charity shop helps to raise more than €7,000 for worthy local causes

Proceeds will go toward supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their families, as well as providing resources for children with autism
A successful community initiative in Carndonagh has raised a total of €7,050 for two local worthy causes, proceeds from a recent ‘Good as New’ charity shop held in the town.
The funds have been evenly distributed, with €3,525 going to the Ard Aoibhinn Alzheimer's Unit in Carn and €3,525 supporting the autism class at Scoil Treasa Naofa in Malin.
The shop, which opened in January and closed last month, was located beside Neal J Doherty Auctioneers on Pound Street.
Organised by local volunteers, Rebecca Crowe and Wendy Doherty, the fundraiser drew strong support from many generous individuals who donated items and made purchases in aid of the two causes.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their families, as well as providing resources for children with autism attending Scoil Treasa Naofa.
A cheque presentation recently took place at the Ard Aoibhinn Unit, where Rebecca and Wendy handed over €3,525 to staff member Jishna Prajeesh on behalf of the facility.
Organisers have expressed their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed. They noted that the kindness and generosity shown by supporters played a vital role in the success of the shop and the impressive total raised.
