Ten couples will take to the dancefloor in November to raise vital funds for sick children and their families

The countdown is officially on as Buncrana/Inishowen Children’s Charity prepares for one of its biggest fundraising events to date – Strictly Come Dancing: Big in Buncrana, taking place on Saturday, November 14, 2026.

Ten fantastic couples are preparing to swap everyday life for the dancefloor as they take on an unforgettable night of dancing, entertainment, competition and plenty of fun – all while raising vital funds to support sick children and their families across Inishowen.

Behind the scenes, preparations are gathering pace, with the organising team working hard on every aspect of the event, including securing sponsors and supporters from across Inishowen and beyond.

At the heart of the event are 20 fantastic dancers, who have stepped outside their comfort zones and committed their time and energy to rehearsals, fundraising and making Strictly a night to remember.

The charity also wishes to recognise the incredible work of dance teacher Elizabeth Curran, who is working with and supporting the dancers throughout their Strictly journey.

The evening will be hosted by Noel Cunningham, with an incredible atmosphere promised as the couples take to the floor and battle it out for the Strictly title.

And the entertainment won’t stop when the dancing finishes, with Johnny Brady, one of Ireland’s leading country music stars, taking to the stage following the competition for what promises to be a brilliant night of live music and dancing.

Tickets will be released shortly, and organisers are warning that availability will be extremely limited.

Adrian McMyler, Chairperson and Event Lead, said: “Strictly Come Dancing is going to be something very special for Buncrana. We have ten incredible couples who have stepped forward to do something completely outside their comfort zones, and the commitment they are already showing is fantastic.”

“A huge amount of work is happening behind the scenes. We are working hard to secure sponsors and supporters and to put all the pieces together to deliver a professional, exciting and memorable event for Buncrana.”

“This is about far more than one night of entertainment. Every dancer, sponsor, volunteer, supporter and person who buys a ticket is helping us continue supporting sick children and families throughout Inishowen.”

“After everything our charity has achieved over the past ten years, we want this to be a celebration of our community and, most importantly, the children and families we are here to support. I cannot wait to see it all come together on 14 November.”

Majella McLaughlin, Vice Chairperson and Event Assistant, added: “The excitement is already building, and there is a huge amount happening behind the scenes. We have an amazing group of dancers who are giving their time to support the charity, and it has been brilliant to see the enthusiasm already.”

“We are working hard across sponsorship, planning and all the preparations needed to make this a fantastic night. We know the community will get behind our dancers, and we want everyone to come along, enjoy themselves and help us make this an unforgettable event.”

Caitlin Crossan, Event Assistant, said: “This event is all about community, fun and supporting an incredible cause. Our dancers are putting so much into preparing for the night, and we cannot wait for everyone to see what they have been working on.”

“There is a brilliant atmosphere developing around Strictly already, and with Elizabeth guiding the dancers and so many people getting behind the event, it is going to be a very special night.”

Further announcements on the dancers, sponsors, tickets and event details will be released in the weeks ahead.
