Free Buncrana event to celebrate local carers next month
National Carers Week 2026 takes place across Ireland from June 8-14
Family carers in Buncrana and across Inishowen are being invited to attend a special free event next month to mark Carers Week and recognise the vital role carers play in communities across Donegal.
The event, organised by the HSE, will take place at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel in Buncrana on Wednesday, June 10, from 12pm to 3pm, and is aimed at people who are caring for an older person at home.

The annual campaign highlights the contribution made by family carers and raises awareness of the challenges many face while supporting loved ones. The week also encourages carers to access supports, information and opportunities to focus on their own wellbeing.
The Buncrana gathering on June 10 will include icebreakers, lunch and a guest talk by Gerry Farrell titled ‘Minding Yourself’, focusing on the importance of self-care for carers.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked during the afternoon.
