North Inishowen boil water notice lifted 

A boil water notice issued to around 9,000 customers in parts of north Inishowen at the weekend has been lifted.

The notice, which was issued to customers supplied by the Inishowen west public water supply and Carndonagh mixed public water supply, was lifted on Thursday afternoon.

Areas affected by the notice, which was issued due to operational issues at a water treatment plant, included Carndonagh, Gleneely, Malin, Clonmany, Ballyliffin, Urris, and the Glenmakee public group water scheme and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann announced in June that a programme of works would begin this month which it says will help put a stop to ongoing bursts, outages and leakage in the area

Uisce Éireann said all consumers affected can resume normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.

Seamus O’Brien, Uisce Éireann, acknowledged the impact of the notice on the community.
