Eoin Ó Broin promises ‘accessible 100% redress scheme’ during Inishowen visit

Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on housing Eoin Ó Broin has met with defective block homeowners in Inishowen.
During the visit, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to delivering “a real, accessible 100% redress scheme”.
He also met with local Sinn Féin elected representatives, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn TD and councillors Jack Murray, Terry Crossan and Albert Doherty.
Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn said the visit to Inishowen was “extremely helpful”.
“Though he has visited many defective block homes in Donegal over the years, he understands that it is important to regularly meet those affected so that they relay their ongoing concerns with the current scheme which remains out of reach for far too many people.

A Judge has sought submissions in a case over alleged non-compliance with planning conditions by Cassidy Brothers Concrete Products Limited

“Eoin recently revealed information which showed that just 43 homes have received full grants to date. When you consider the thousands of homes impacted in Donegal alone, this is a drop in the ocean of what needs to be done.”
He said the grant scheme is “too slow, laden with bureaucracy and is simply unaffordable to most families”.
“Meanwhile, people are trapped in crumbling homes which are becoming more and more unsafe with each passing day.
“Sinn Féin wants to put Eoin Ó’Broin into the Department of Housing as minister to deliver a proper, accessible 100% redress scheme.
“He is passionate about the issue, has written a book on the subject and is working with campaign leaders in Donegal, and other counties, towards that goal.”
