Almost €100,000 raised after Buncrana man killed in Australian accident

Efforts are underway to bring AJ Doyle's remains back to Buncrana

Almost €100,000 has been raised by friends and family of a Buncrana man who was killed in a motorcycle collision in Australia.

AJ Doyle died in Perth on Easter Sunday when the Honda motorcycle he was riding left the road and struck a wall. He had been living and working in Australia for several years.

Friends of the 30-year-old established a GoFundMe campaign to contribute to the cost of bringing his remains home with the help of The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

In six days, the campaign has raised more than $159,000 or €97,000.

Friends and family have been paying tribute to AJ online. A memorial service in his honour was held in Perth on Sunday. Arrangements are being made to bring AJ’s remains home to Buncrana. A  funeral notice said that those “deeply shocked and saddened” by his death are his mother Caroline McKinney, father Jason, Caroline and beloved brothers Aaron, Jamie, Gareth, Thomas and sister Eva; Granny Anne, Granda Charlie McKinney and extended family and his many friends at home and abroad.
