A burst water main has caused a water outage in parts of Buncrana.

The outage was reported late on Friday morning. Uisce Éireann says repairs to the burst water main may cause supply disruptions to Ballymacarry and surrounding areas of the town.

The utility said a traffic management plan is in place and repair work is scheduled to take place until 5pm on Friday.

Local councillor Jack Murray said he had been made aware of water outages in numerous parts of Buncrana. He posted that he understood that the outage was caused by a burst on the main pipe on the Cockhill Road, which meant “a significant area is without water”.

“There is a crew working on it now to get it back on as soon as possible. Irish Water are advising that it'll be out until 5pm but hopefully, it'll be back sooner than that,” he said.
