Large parts of south Inishowen are without water after a second major burst in less than 24 hours.
An overnight burst to a main has caused disruption to supply to Buncrana and areas to the south of the town with reports that Fahan, Inch, Tooban, Burnfoot, Bridgend, Burt, Newtowncunningham, Killea and areas near Muff have been impacted.
Uisce Éireann says repairs to a burst water main in Buncrana may cause supply disruptions to Buncrana, Letterkenny and surrounding areas. Works are scheduled to take place until 6pm on Saturday.
The utility says it is also investigating reports of a supply disruption to Fahan and surrounding areas.
The outage follows a burst water main in the Buncrana area on Friday which left large parts of the town and surrounding areas without water.
Local councillor Jack Murray said Saturday’s disruption was caused by “a very significant burst to the trunk main which is causing water outages to large swathes of south Inishowen today”. He said a crew has been working on the burst at the Applegreen station at Ludden since 2am on Saturday. A second burst in the Looking Glass Brae area of Buncrana, might delay the restoration of supply, he said.
