Inishowen Walking Festival returns with walks taking place around the peninsula

The first walks have now been announced, with more to soon follow

The Inishowen Walking Festival 2024 is taking place from September 13 to 15.

Run by the Inishowen Social Enterprise Network, in partnership with Donegal Sports Partnership, the event invites walkers of all levels to explore the stunning landscapes of the Inishowen peninsula through a series of free guided walks.

Walks are taking pace across the peninsula from Malin Head to Newtowncunningham and from Dunree to Stroove.

With a range of routes that showcase the breathtaking natural beauty and unique heritage of Inishowen, the festival offers something for everyone.

From coastal treks to scenic inland trails, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors in the company of fellow enthusiasts.

All events are free, but spaces are limited, so participants are encouraged to sign up in advance.

Rebecca McLaughlin, of Go Visit Inishowen, said the festival is a wonderful opportunity for both locals and visitors to experience the natural beauty and rich heritage of the peninsula.

“With a variety of walks for all abilities, this festival celebrates the stunning landscapes that make Inishowen so unique, while promoting health and wellbeing in the community,” she said.

“We’re excited to see everyone come together and enjoy everything Inishowen has to offer."

The first walks have now been announced, with more to soon follow. Details of the walks, as well as registration, can be found at the festival website.
