Local health and well-being experts to address Carndonagh event 

Mental health counsellor Tracy McKeague is one of the speakers at the Inishowen Co-Op  event on Thursday, October 10

Four local experts on health and well-being are to address an event on navigating the challenges of the upcoming winter. 

Inishowen Co-Op is hosting the event on Thursday, October 10, from 6.30pm at its Carndonagh branch.

This event aims to equip everyone who comes along, with the tools, insights, and resources

necessary to navigate the challenges of the upcoming winter season, focusing on both mental and physical health.

Featured activities and benefits of coming along include practical strategies and tools for self-care from guest speakers, community support and organisations offering expert advice,  opportunities to engage with local initiatives for the winter months, free health checks from 6.30pm, healthy eating from the air fryer demonstrations from 6.30pm and refreshments.

The four speakers on the evening will cover a wide range of areas. 

Niamh Britton is a community food and nutrition worker at Inishowen Development Partnership and works on food waste and food poverty initiatives across Donegal. Niamh is also responsible for coordinating the Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME) program, which promotes healthy eating on a budget. She will discuss the best foods to consume to boost immunity during the winter months.

Tracy McKeague is a mental health counsellor and is aware of many issues with health and well-being through her clients. 

Her talk on the night will cover issues such as anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and much more. She will give top tips on how to help in these situations and discuss tools that you can use on a daily basis to live a much more fulfilled life.

Roseena Toner, of True Harmony Holistic Therapies by Roseena, is a holistic therapist who delivers massage, reflexology, aromatherapy and tapping treatments. 

She will talk mainly about how essential oils can benefit your well-being and build on your immune system for the months ahead. She will also deliver demonstrations on the night.

Roisin Doherty, a general practice nurse, will talkabout the importance of regular medical checks and the seasonal significance of vaccinations. Roisin will also provide free health checks throughout the evening.

There will be with free health checks, refreshments, and a wealth of information from community organisations, such as Men’s Shed, Insight Inishowen, Inishowen Development Partnership, Colgan Hall, Accord, AA,  and community centres.
