The Buncrana parkrun meets every Saturday morning

Buncrana parkrun will hold its 300th event this weekend.

The free 5km timed walk or run is held every Saturday throughout the year at 9.30am. Organised by volunteers, it is inclusive to all.

The first Buncrana parkrun event was held on September 9, 2017 and since then more than 3,000 participants have taken part in 17,234 parkruns in total.

The weekly event has attracted many ‘parkrun tourists’ from far-flung destinations such as Australia and Africa.

A spokesperson for Buncrana parkrun said participants say it ’s been good for their physical and mental health and has been a great source of friendship.
