Carndonagh FC have expressed their sympathies following the passing of their club president Liam Toland. 

Liam died peacefully at this home at Carrowreagh Road, Carndonagh. He was the beloved husband of Mary and much-loved father of John, Teresa, Daniel and William.

Deeply regretted by his sisters, brothers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, extended family, friends and neighbours.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sad news that our club president Liam Toland has passed away,” Carndonagh FC posted. “He was a person with a long history of service to our club as a player, committee member and chairman among many other roles. 

“He will be sadly missed by everyone at the club and in wider football circles in Inishowen. We express our sincere sympathy to his wife Mary, his children and extended family at this sad time. Ar dheis dé go raibh a Anam.”

As a mark of respect, Carndonagh FC’s match against Buncrana Hearts and the club’s youth game against Moville Celtic scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, have been postponed.

Liam’s remains are reposing at his home (F93E5XN) where all are welcome to pay their respects. Removal from there on Tuesday morning, January 21st at 10:30am going to Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh for 1am Requiem Mass followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
