Respite centre proposed for Buncrana

Any submissions on the current application can be lodged up until March 8 with a decision expected by March 29

Plans have been lodged with Donegal County Council to develop a new Respite Centre in Buncrana.

The new care facility would be situated on the Looking Glass Brae adjacent to the Oakfield Close estate. The applicants, River Bed Lettings, wish to demolish an existing shed and construct respite facilities that would include cabins in its place.

The new development will consist of three fully accessible family cabins suitable for the delivery of respite services with a total of nine cabins in the plans. One of the proposed cabins will consist of three bedrooms while the other seven cabins will be two-bedroom units.

Plans for the development will also include another cabin for a reception, a caretaker's office, a kitchen area, laundry facilities area. It is also planned for a storage area of equipment. The application includes plans for a car parking area and all associated site works.

The applicants submitted a similar application shortly before Christmas for glamping pods which was withdrawn by River Bed Lettings at the start of the year. Any submissions on the current application can be lodged up until March 8 with a decision expected by March 29.
