Greencastle Community Centre launches project to empower women through nature

A project designed to empower women to connect with nature, themselves and their community has been launched in Greencastle.

Greencastle Community Centre is behind the Wild Women by the Wheel of the Year project.

The initiative will offer a series of engaging workshops and activities, guided by the ancient Celtic Wheel of the Year, fostering mindfulness and a deeper connection to the natural world.

Wild Women by the Wheel of the Year will provide participants with opportunities to explore seasonal rhythms through outdoor activities, mindfulness practices and creative workshops. 

The project aims to create a supportive and nurturing environment where women can learn, grow and connect with like-minded individuals.

“We are delighted to bring this empowering project to the women of our community,” said Susan McAleer, manager of Greencastle Community Centre. 

“The Wheel of the Year provides a beautiful framework for exploring nature's cycles and we believe this project will offer a transformative experience for all who participate,” she said.

This project will be facilitated by ecotherapy and mindfulness facilitators Michaela McDaid and Donna McFeely, with local guest facilitators also contributing their expertise.

To learn more about Wild Women by the Wheel of the Year and register for the programme, Greencastle Community Centre invites all interested women to attend a free information session and breakfast on Saturday, March 8 at 10am at Greencastle Community Centre followed by an (optional) sisterhood swim at Shroove beach.
