Green light for 14 new homes in Buncrana

Donegal County Council has granted planning permission for 14 new homes in Buncrana, 11 months after the application was submitted.

The applicant Ronald McGrory had sought to construct 14 new semi-detached two-storey houses at Taobh an Tsruthan, across the road from the Inishowen Co-Op.

The planning authority has given the green light to the development with 30 strict conditions. These include that revised access plans connecting to Rockytown Phase 2 as a tee-junction are submitted for approval by the Housing Capital and Area Roads Office.

The Planning Authority also stipulates that a Road Safety Audit is carried out relating to the new junction and submitted along with revised plans to demonstrate appropriate pedestrian crossing points throughout the development.

Donegal County Council also outlined that all houses are required to be wired and prepared with cables to enable the future charging of electric motor vehicles.

Another condition as part of granting permission was that Mr McGrory enter into an agreement with the planning authority that all residential units are to be sold to “individual purchasers” and not to be purchased by vulture funds or corporate entities. Were the properties not sold within two years, then the restricted groups can offer to buy them.
